- Two female inmates held in New Jersey’s Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women are pregnant as a result of male transfers who self-identified into the women’s prison. State authorities implemented a sex self-identification policy in June 2021 following a settlement with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
