Roosh V., a man widely known as a “pickup artist,” who espouses a particularly extreme version of misogyny (recently advocating for legalized rape), had planned a number of meetups for his followers around the world. After widespread protest, the meetups were, supposedly, cancelled. But that doesn’t mean the misogynist views supported by men like Roosh and his followers were quashed…

Yesterday, I spoke with Jen Kim and Emily Monaghan — members of a Vancouver-based activist group called the Guerrilla Feminist Collective — about what Roosh symbolizes and why they decided to organize what they called a “Welcoming Party” in response to the planned meetups.

The Roosh V. Welcoming Party will take place tonight at 8pm at the Vancouver Public Library. To learn more, visit the Official Roosh V Welcoming Party event page on Facebook.

Jen Kim’s speak is now up at The Bivouac.
